About

Ben Stafford is a folk singer/songwriter based in Lancashire, North West of England. Brought up listening to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and John Martyn just to name a few, Ben blends these musicians with modern artists such as Ben Howard, to give a very unique style of playing, and writing.

Having grown up surrounded by the countryside, and spending most of his summers down on the sunny south west coast in Cornwall, Ben incorporates these picturesque scenes in his writing, very fitting with his melodic and calming guitar style of playing.

Ben recorded and produced his first single from home, and Open Arms was later released on the 8th of May. His first taste of radio play followed with a feature on BBC Radio Lancashire, and not long after, he started recording and producing his second single As One, which came out on the 10th of July, again featuring on BBC Radio Lancashire.

In August 2020, Ben started recording and producing songs for his first EP, ‘The Goose Rock EP’. With help from Tom Hale, from the Preston based band The Empire Police, who mixed and mastered the tracks. The Goose Rock EP was released on the 30th of October, and got two of its songs played on BBC Radio Lancashire, followed by an interview, where Ben talked about the new EP, and what’s to come.

In November 2020, Ben started recording and writing demos for his new music. Taking a more electric and experimental approach to his music, Ben is branching out into the alternative-folk genre, with influences such as Ben Howard, A Blaze of Feather and Bon Iver, present in his new material. With new music on the horizon for the new year, Ben has already started planning and filming for the next project.
